Community First Responders

Community First Responders (CFRs) are trained volunteers who respond to 999 emergency medical calls on behalf of the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST), providing rapid medical response to the communities where they live or work.

North Norfolk currently has some of the slowest ambulance response times in England, and CFRs provide a means of delivering vital medical support and oversight until such time as the ambulance arrives. This is particularly important in the case of suspected cardiac arrests where a response within eight minutes can make the difference between life and death.

Stiffkey currently has two CFRs, responding to 999 calls within a ten-mile radius of the village. They are trained in Basic Life Support and carry a Defibrillator (AED), as well as oxygen and a comprehensive first aid kit. The Stiffkey CFRs are also specifically trained in how to respond to patients who have had a fall. They receive regular training and skills certification and form an integral part of the emergency response provided by the East of England Ambulance Service.

When on duty, CFRs are exclusively deployed by the East of England Ambulance Service using their electronic despatch system, so in a medical emergency, call 999, and ask for an Ambulance.

We need your help. Volunteers currently provide their own vehicles and fundraise for their equipment and uniforms. If you would like to make a donation, or if you have any questions, please contact us.

The Parish Council

We are a corporate body made up of seven members. We meet at least 6 times a year. We are the lowest tier of government and as part of our role in the community we can provide services and facilities for our parish and campaign for the things which matter to our parish. We also have a consultation role in respect of Planning. We also liaise with other statutory and voluntary bodies.

We have a Clerk who is also the Responsible Financial Officer for the Council. Everything the Council does is laid down in law. It is the clerks’ role to ensure the Council acts within the law.
